Amanda Bossard was just out her high school days when she started her marine biology education at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard began her career in commercial seafood in 1999 when she began working aboard the F/V Sunset the 65' halibut schooner turned into a salmon tender for Murat Aritan. He has been an commercial fisherman from 1993. Bossard got married to Aritan in 1999 and the pair have come together to fight for their business. They are both proponents of preserving sustainable and renewable sources of seafood. Otolith opened its direct market wholesale distributorship in Philadelphia after Bossard returned from living back in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1, and Andre 1, to Philadelphia. Bossard in 2007, mother of two children Bella, age 3, and Andre 1 and returning to Philadelphia after a trip from Canada, launched Otolith as a direct-market wholesale seafood distributor. Bossard's daughter Isabella, age 12, and son Andre 10 return annually for a visit to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand position in the wild salmon season. The two-month period is when Bossard and Isabella use hooks & lines to catch the salmon they want to catch. Aritan will then sell their seafood locally to processors. Amanda Bossard works as an anchor/MMJ for News 12 Brooklyn and News 12 Bronx. She has been with this station from November 2015. She's obsessed with telling compelling reports and spotlighting everything positive taking place in the areas she works for.
